To grasp this potential, we have launched the Digital Credentials System in 2025, a secure platform designed to streamline the verification of digital certificates and promote the cross-border recognition of qualifications. In addition, we are actively developing a Learning Management System to offer banking professionals with seamless access to training resources and the function to track their learning progress easily. Concurrently, we are building a centralised data warehouse for our training and other activities. This will help us to make further use of data analytics and artificial intelligence tools for uncovering insights that will enhance our programmes and services.Investing in Local Workforce CapacityAlongside our technological advancements, we recognise the paramount importance of investing in the skills and knowledge of our local workforce. In collaboration with the Hong Kong Monetary Authority and The Hong Kong Association of Banks, HKIB conducted a comprehensive study of %u201cCapacity Building for Future Banking for 2026%u20132030%u201d. With the aim of identifying critical skill gaps during 2026 to 2030 and providing actionable recommendations for the future, the findings of this study will be published in 2025 and will serve as a strategic roadmap for our future training initiatives. Moreover, we introduced new professional qualifications, including the Green and Sustainable Finance module under the Enhanced Competency Framework, and enriched our flagship Certified Banker Programme. In 2024, we awarded over 4,200 professional qualifications, representing a 10% increase compared to the previous year. Furthermore, we witnessed an increase of more than one third in enrolments in our continuing professional development programmes.Cultivating the Next Generation of Banking ProfessionalsTo address the growing demand for skilled professionals in the banking industry, HKIB has adopted a strategic approach to attract and cultivate the next generation of talents. Through active collaboration with government bodies, regulators, and local academia, HKIB is fostering a sustainable ecosystem to nurture and support the development of young professionals. A key initiative is the recent introduction of the Affiliate designation in 2025 for young talents who have completed the related learning programmes but yet acquired sufficient work experience to attain full professional qualifications. This designation provides a clear pathway for young talent to gain the necessary expertise to join the industry. To connect with the future talents, HKIB has launched the %u201cENLIGHTEN%u201d initiative. This initiative introduces students to the banking industry by offering career insights and hands-on experiences, helping them to explore the future prospects for banking professionals. Through this scheme, HKIB has engaged over 2,000 university and secondary school students.By making a concerted effort to engage the younger generation through outreach initiatives, HKIB is proactively building a robust talent pipeline that will sustain the banking industry%u2019s growth for the years ahead. These efforts also reflect HKIB%u2019s forward-looking ambition to foster the long-term development of the banking industry through strategic and targeted priorities.
